The talk aims to draw on the presenter’s experience as a national public policy maker on climate change to discuss and reflect on:

• What does it take to reduce emissions at a rate that is fast enough?
• Is it enough to make greener choice?
• What about ‘putting a tax on carbon’ or ‘carbon trading’?
• Banning flights? Eat more tofu?
• How does economic ideology creep into the debate?
• How are climate change public policies made at a national level?
• What considerations are in play when making policies?
• What are the power dynamics within government?
• In what way is the UNFCCC COP designed to be unhelpful?
